The Dolce Concento Ensemble arises from the artistic collaboration between the conductor Nicola Valentini and the violinist Andrea Vassalle, two musicians who put their knowledge and their experiences together in order to create a common project, aiming to the discovery of new sounds in classical and romantic vocal music performed on historical instruments. Following the path traced by their teachers, among them Ottavio Dantone, Federico Guglielmo and Alessandro Moccia, operas, oratorios and cantatas are approached through a deep respect for the old musical codes, without giving up a more modern focus, aimed at involving the public of our time. The ensemble’s repertoire ranges from the Italian baroque composers that exported the Melodramma to the rest of Europe, passing through the classicism of Gluck and Mozart, all the way to the Belcanto of Bellini and Donizetti. Dolce Concento made its debut at the Ravenna Festival in June 2015, and immediately conquered the enthusiasm of both public and critics, hence imposing itself as a promising Italian emerging group.
